Chihuahua Pups around a leukemia child

my son has leukemia and is out of the hospital. And i am getting a Chihuahua Puppy. Is this something i should not do?

Hi, In a child wih leukemia, infection-fighting white blood cells are defective thus making them prone to infections. The chemotherapy drugs used for the treatment of leukemia cause suppression of the immune system which leads to a decreased ability to fight infection causing micro-organisms. At this point it would be advisable for you to postpone getting the puppy until your child has completed his treatment. All the best and God Bless!
