Hi,
The simplest and safest way to deal with this issue is for you to undergo an FNAC (fine needle aspiration cytology) of the neck mass.
Do you have any scalp infection or other scalp problems? From your history and description, it seems unlikely to be a lymphoma or any other cancer. However, it would be prudent to perform an FNAC to be 100% sure on this count. Also, the FNAC result would help diagnose the underlying problem (like infection etc), if any.
This is a simple, nearly painless, and quick test, done on outpatient basis. Pl consult your internist to set up an appointment. I would be interested in knowing the results too.
All the best!
