My 26 year old son has melanoma on the brain stem and in the spinal fluid with multiple tumors in the meneges around the
spine. He had surgery on the brain stem tumor which was partially removed on February 7, 2008. He has recently been treated
with four doses of intrathecal cyterabine given two weeks apart. He has completely lost the use of his legs and recently has
had a staff infection in the spinal fluid which is being agressively treated with antibiotics. No other tumors have been
found anywhere on the skin or in his body at this time. We have been told that the average life expectancy for cases like his
is 3-6 months. Do you know of any clinical trials or alternative treatments he might qualify for? I know his condition is
quite rare but we want to explore all possible options for treatment. Thank you for any help you can give
