Nodular Density

Asked by rn1995 (Female; 42; Reflux, hiatal hernia, fibroadenoma right breast, Cholecystectomy ) on Sun 02, May 2010 08:02am

I recently had a CT done due to on going abd pain. The report said: A nodular density in the left side of the pelvis measuring 3 cm. This likely represents the left ovary. What does this mean? What is a nodular density? It also said: There are small mesenteric lymph nodes noted on the right side in the right lower quadrant. The significance is unclear. What would cause this?

Answer by bobby s, md  on Thu 06, May 2010 11:48am:

Hello,
There is nothing alarming in the report. There is no adverse feature mentioned about the ovary. The "nodular" description refers to the shape of the ovary. Often, non-specific lymphadenopathy is noted in the abdomen or pelvis of normal patients. However, please discuss with your gastroenterologist or gynecologist the exact significance of these in your particular scenario.
All the best, and God Bless!
