Pancrea' cancer that my new doctor said i could have. Testing now, no results yet


    
Asked by damxciting (Female; 61; westnile virus, auto immune disease, smoker for years. Asthma, barrett's esophagus. Colonscopy & endroscopy every 3 yr. Polips taken off ea. time. IBS ; Relevant drugs:mobic, Nexium ) on Wed 11, Jun 2008 09:56pm

After having a severe problem with constipation twice last Feb. I have had stomach problems. Pain between my shoulder blades. Icky stomach, light bowel movements on & off. Dr. just said maybe a pancrea's problem. Have just taken blood tests & will get a scan next week. Should I be concerned it really could be my pancrea's? I understand its the worst kind of cancer to get & the most painful to die from. Once you have symptoms, you have it.

Hi there. I understand your concern. Your present symptoms are really very non-specific to point out to something specific such as pancreatic cancer. Also, given your complex history of systemic diseases, these pains may be a complication of these (like autoimmune vasculitis or inflammation at other sites) rather than a pancreatic cancer. If ever your pancreas is ever involved, I think it will be likely due to pancreatitis rather than cancer. These symptoms may also point out to a gallbladder problem. Nevertheless, I respect your doctor's views regarding your situation, and he has your best intentions in mind in requesting these tests. Let's just hope that all the tests will turn out fine.
