Hi,
The duration of chemotherapy depends on several things. One guide is the toxicity, for as long as it is tolerated, it would be continued. The other guide is disease response – if the disease seems to be progressing despite the chemotherapy (this would translate into failure of treatment), then chemo is discontinued. In the pivotal study using Docetaxel (Taxotere), patients received on the average 4 to 9 cycles of chemotherapy.
Chemotherapy is usually given without any Zoladex (or other hormonal treatment). For most patients, the hormones and the chemotherapy is reserved for a time that the hormones are no longer working. It is possible that once the chemotherapy is started the Zoladex would be discontinued.
