Results of a CBC Blood test...HELP!

	Asked by snoopsterj (Male; 8; He has been having headaches every once and awhile, and Tuesday night, out of the blue, he had a bloody nose out of both nostrils. We have a humidifier in our house, so it wasn't dry. ; Relevant drugs:None ) on Fri 09, Oct 2009 11:35am
	We got our 8 year old son a CBC blood test. The results came back with Low Neutrophils at 36, High Lymps at 50, and High Lymps(Absolute) at 3.4. I don't trust our pediatrician to give us a straight answer because we had blood work done on him in January of '08 and the doctor said everything was normal, but come to find out, that the platlets and the Mono absolutes were high and we weren't informed. The only way I found out was to get a copy of the results to compare to this current test we ordered for ourselves through LabCorp. Please let me know if there is something that I need to do, if I should be concerned, and what is the next step. Thank you so much for your help with this...I am lost!

	Answer by Dr. Monica, MD on Thu 15, Oct 2009 09:12am: Hi, A high lymphocyte count can occur due to various causes including infections, inflammatory conditions, allergies, autoimmune disorders, lymphoproliferative disorders, cancers etc. You have also mentioned that the platelet and monocyte counts were high and he had spontaneous nasal bleed. It is difficult to draw any conclusions at this stage. Your son needs a thorough check up by his doctor and further investigations which may include a bone marrow analysis.
