I am a 36 yo old female of Western European ethnicity who doesn't spend much time in the sun. When I do, I wear at
least 35 SPF as I would burn easily otherwise. 18 months ago, I developed a bump on the back of my head (wear no sun has
shined) that scabbed over. It never healed. It is a small pink bump, about the diameter of a pencil eraser and raised like
your normal scalp bumps (??). It constantly develops a white scab. I've been told it looks a pimple or wart, though it
never "comes to a head" and I've never had a wart in my life. About 9 months ago, I developed a small, round,
slightly raised blister-like bump on my shin. It felt so much like a blister that I "scratched it open." It has
not healed either. It is usually just a blister-like pink bump, but occasionally does get flaky. Now today, I noticed a
darker pink bump, not raised (yet) about an inch away from it. I haven't been to the doctor as I haven't had
insurance since I was laid off over a year ago, and even if I went to my GP, I couldn't afford any diagnostic testing or
specialists. Still, I need to know: how worried should I be about basal cell carcinoma? The only known cancer in my family
is my sister, who had cervical cancer at age 29. I'm getting worried. I have a disabled husband (broken back) and
nine-year-old son depending on me, so I need to know if this is something to be concerned about. Thank you in advance for
your response.
