Small "pimple-like" bump on or near epididymis?

Male (18 years old). During my first testicular self examination, I noticed a small "pimple-like" bump on my right testicle, at the top of the backside. Now although I am not 100% certain it is not directly on the testicle itself, by lightly squeezing the epididymis, it feels as if the "pimple is on the epididymis, and not the testicle. Although I am fairly certain a tc lump is quite a bit larger than a small pimple, and is always found on the front and sides of the testicle (and not the top backside like mine), some reassurance would be very nice to stop my worrying. Thank you for any comments.

Hello, Presence of lump depends on whether the lump is inside or outside the testes. If it is present on skin then it can be sebaceous cyst or an infected hair follicle. If it is present inside the sacs, then it can be an epididymal cyst or a benign tumor. Even a malignancy cannot be ruled out. This would need further evaluation. Without examination it is difficult confirming, so please get it examined from a urologist. You need to get an ultrasound testis done to confirm the diagnosis. Diagnostic or therapeutic fine needle aspiration cytology(FNAC ) may also be needed to confirm the diagnosis. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and regards.

Comment by Online Doctor on Sat 22, May 2010 08:34pm: Yes, it is actually inside the sac, and I am nearly 100% certain it is on the epididymis, and not the testicle itself. It does not hurt and it isn't larger than a small pimple, and it's only noticeable right after a warm shower. Can I rule out anything dangerous like testicular cancer? I will be going for a regular checkup sometime this summer, not immediately because I no longer have a family doctor, I will have to ask my parents to get me one. In other words, is it something I have to get checked out now, or can it wait a few months? Thank you for your time.
