Swollen left testicle

I have recently (in the last few days) noticed that my left testicle is larger than the other one. It has always been slightly larger and hung lower than the right one, but I think it has got even bigger. There is no pain as such, and i have felt around and cannot find any lumps or bumps that seem out of place. When I say there is no pain, I do seem to be able to constantly feel the existance of it so to speak... this may be beacuse I have been constantly feeling it and moving it around... I dont know if I am being paranoid or whether there is no problem... Is this something I should visit my local GP for? Does anybody know whether it could be something to worry about? Many thanks

Hi Themule.Thanks for posting in AMD.It is normal to have left testis to be a bit lower than right one.It starts during the descent of testis.And coming to swelling as you have mentioned, there are many causes for testicular swelling like hydrocele,orchitis,tumors etc.Hernia is one cause which is often presented by patients as testicular swelling which can be easily differentiated.Hydrocele is commonest cause and it is due to accumulation of fluid around testicle below its covering may be the cause in your case.There is nothing much to worry with hydrocele unless it is huge and causing some problems like pain.It can easily be corrected.But consult your general practice for accurate diagnosis and any management if necessary.Thanks.
