PPE refers to "Palmer-Planter Erythrodysesthesia", more commonly known as the "Hand-Foot Syndrome". It is an adverse effect of chemotherapy drugs. 5-Fluorouracil (5FU), capecitabine, doxorubicin, docetaxel, idarubicin, and cytarabine are the most frequently involved agents.
This syndrome consists of of redness, tenderness, tingling, numbness, dry rash, and desquamation over the palms and
soles.
