Hi.
Nodules represent abnormal growths in an organ. These growths can be from the organs primary tissue (like primary lung cancer arising from lung tissues) or these can represent growths that spread from other organs (like colon or liver cancer spreading to the lungs presenting as nodules). Not all nodules portend to cancer, and a number of nodules would turn out to be just an infection.
From what you have described, it is hard to tell if this is a primary lung neoplasm (new growth) or a metastatic one. Another possibility is that this can be a primary kidney neoplasm that has spread somehow to the lungs.
I believe that the next steps in the diagnostic process is for the surgeon or an interventional radiologist to take a sample or biopsy of the nodules on the lungs or the ones on the kidney. This way, we can tell the nature of these nodules.
Regards.
