Stomach cancer cells - Is there a treatement for cancer cells in stomach?

	I was told I have cancer cells in my stomach what does this mean? And she also mentioned something about H Pylori are all these things connected? It wasn't until after I had blood work done that I was told this and then today I had an ultrsound and was told that I have gallstones would he of notified me of anything else that has been causing my abdomial pain. I haven't been able to find anything on the internet that explains in detail the meaning of stomach cancer cells and how it affects you I have been able to find out information on H pylori. And is there medication that kills the cancer cells in your stomach?

	Answer by Dr Bobby V, MD (oncologist) on Tue 01, Apr 2008 09:21am: Hi, The link that connects cancer cells, stomach, and H pylori is an entity called "MALT lymphoma", which means mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma. MALT lymphoma is a type of stomach malignancy that is associated with chronic infection with Helicobacter pylori. The initial step would be to confirm the diagnosis. This is usually accomplished by an endoscopic biopsy. The next step is to document the presence of H pylori, and this is usually done using either a breath test or blood test. MALT lymphoma is a type of malignancy that responds well to medical treatment. A course of antibiotics is recommended in these cases to eradicate the infection, with a combination of three drugs being usually used. Many MALT lymphomas regress after antibiotic therapy alone. Those that persist usually respond well to treatment with combination chemotherapy. If you indeed have MALT lymphoma, then here are many effective therapies to treat your condition. Good luck!
