Hi, can you write the full results of your blood counts? Are you taking any medications? If so, what are they? Do you have any other diseases or previous surgeries? Thanks

Attached is the complete bllod test. I had Hepatitis B in 1971, no problem since. I had surgery in 1997 to repair two ruptured disc in my neck and suffer from chronic pain. I have been using a Duragesic Patch and muscle relaxers(Flexaril) for the past 5 years.Everything has been normal on my annual test until this year.

Hi there. I am assuming with what you wrote that you are concerned that the white blood count is low (i cannot view the actual lab results). With your past medical history and present medications, I cannot seem to find any reason for your white blood counts to go down without experiencing any significant symptoms. One explanation is that this could be a laboratory error and to be sure, you might want to consider repeating the test with another laboratory. White blood cell counts go down for a variety of reasons, including infections (bacterial and/or viral), side effects of drugs (especially chemotherapy), primary bone marrow problems (myelodysplastic syndrome, aplastic anemia, etc), or any malignancy that metastasizes or spreads to the bone marrow. One angle that I can think of is something related to your past hepatitis B infection. I suggest that you have the blood count test done again, just to be sure of the results. And if the white blood counts are really low, I suggest you discuss with your doctor regarding working up your previous hepatitis infection or look at the possibility of the conditions I mentioned above. Regards.

Hi. I have already viewed your lab results and the white blood count is indeed low as well as the fraction of lymphocytes. Your platelets are also low, and these can be likewise explained by the conditions I have mentioned. I suggest you take the steps I mentioned above. Regards
