what is intestinal metaplasia. is it similar to cancer.

Hi, Thank you for posting. Intestinal metaplasia is not a type of cancer. But it is considered as a risk factor for adenocarcinoma. This condition happens due to transformation or metaplasia of the epithelium. An example is the transformation of stomach epithelium to a type that resembles the epithelium of the intestine.
