bloody stool and tailbone pain

Asked by tpommier (Female; 27; none; Relevant drugs:none ) on Sat 17, Jul 2010 08:19pm :

For the last couple of years I have had bloody stools off and on. Sometimes I will get for a week or so and then it will be weeks or months before I have it again. It is always bright red and usually very painful when going to the bathroom. Recently in the last year I have also been getting tailbone pain. I have had it maybe 3 or 4 times and it lasts for a few days and goes away. It is more like pressure and it worse when I sit but doesn't really bother me when I am standing. I have read online about colon cancer and my grandma had it many years ago. Should I be worried.

Hello,

Your history and symptoms do not point to colon cancer as the underlying diagnosis.

Please consult a gastroenterologist for workup, diagnosis, and treatment.Additionally, you must undergo age-appropriate screening for cancer (as applicable to the general population of your sex and age), including colon cancer.

All the best, and God Bless!
