Healthy female diagnosed at 35 yr old with Stage II Papillary Follicular Thyroid Ca, Thyroidectomy I-131 Tx. Negative for
remission, f/u every 3-6 months with ultrasound and biopsies in small nodule in the area of previous thyroid ca. All labs are
negative. Labs last tested 4/10. 1/2010 Lumpectomy performed on (R) breast for clustered microcalcifications. No
complications. Recently discovered lump in (L) axillae with tenderness. (R) axillae is negative for tenderness or swelling.
No family history of Cancer, negative for alcohol and smoking. Four full-term pregnancies without complications. **I am
wondering if I should follow-up with the breast surgeon or physician who follow me for my Thyroid Ca. They are both very well
respected physicians at The James Cancer Center in Columbus, Ohio. I'm not sure which is the appropriate one to see. I also
am wondering if you believe that there is a correlation between Thyroid Cancer and the axillary lump or the breast history
and this new lump. Do you think that I have a more substantial risk for the lump to be cancerous than a woman my age (41)
without the history. I considered waiting until my next menstrual cycle to see if it was related (I am currently at day 27 of
my cycle), because I don't feel that I need to rush in to see a physician. My husband and family are suggesting otherwise.
What would be your feelings about the urgency of being seen, is a month too long to wait? **I am an old non-practicing L&D
nurse. Thank-you
