itching only sign of lymphoma? worried...please help

Hello Doctor. I am trying to stay positive about the itching but it has been going on so long and no one has been able to figure it out. So then I think about terrible things such as lymphoma, etc. So basically, are you are telling me that itching as a result of lymphoma should be accompanied by other systemic symptoms? In other words, itching for almost two years without the manifistation of other symptoms goes against the presence of lymphoma? Thanks

Hello again, That is correct. It is unlikely that there is no accompanying rash or skin change to consider a skin lymphoma. I think the problem may have more to do with your immune system, with allergies or irritant skin effects. A thorough discussion with a doctor may be able to isolate some substances that may be suspect. Working this up may involve multiple tests against known substances that produce reactions.
