pain in my left side, low grade fever, some bloating, is this fibroid related

baby 6 months ago. diagnosed with a fibroid measuring 8 by 10 cm. Have been
having other symptoms more recnently. pain in my left lower side, like a stich,
stinging like pains low down in my pelvis/vagina...loads of lower back pain.
always have a low grade temperature and bleeding after sex. are these symptoms
to do with the fibroid or is it possible that could be linked to my ovaries
possibly cancer. would appreciate an opinion
Answer by Dr Paul S, MD on Fri 08, Aug 2008 11:34pm:
Hi there.
Firbroids are large fleshy masses that sprouts from areas of previous surgery. This represents exaggerated scar formation which may indeed cause damage or compression to nearby organs.
The pain that you are presently experiencing may be partly explained by the fibroids if this has damaged nerve endings or is compressing other organs.
However, this is unlikely to be the sole reason for the bleeding and low grade fever. I suggest that you have your reproductive organs evaluated by your gynecologist. This may point out to a possible pelvic inflammatory disese, or infection of the reproductive organs.
Regards.
