tesicular cancer and cigarettes/maijuauna

I'm 19 years old and was recently diagnosed with testicular cancer. My case is the typical case for this type of cancer. But
the last couple years I have been smoking marijuana and cigarettes quite regularly and I was wondering if there was a direct
link between these two habits and my cancer. I know they both cause cancer but can it develop this quickly?
Answer by bobby s, md on Sun 25, Oct 2009 12:54pm:
Hi,
A general correlation has been noted between smoking and some cancers. However, it is not possible to definitely link a short history of smoking and subsequent development of cancer.
While you should make all efforts to quit smoking, you should not blame yourself and conclude that the smoking caused your testicular cancer.
All the best!
