Patient Feedback: "Thank you doctor. I appreciate your assistance. I will make sure to mention the points you raised to my doctor. Have a great day!"

Doctor: Hi welcome to live chat

Patient: age 30

Patient: i have mitral valve prolapse and have been having stabbing pain in my chest regularly this week... the drs have told me to expect some stabbing pain...but is it normal to experience it regularly?

Doctor: ok, most people with mitral valve prolapse have no symptoms However, those who do commonly complain of symptoms such as fatigue, palpitations, chest pain, anxiety, and migraine headaches.

Patient: i have only ever had palpitatins and a stabbing needle like pain on my left side...

Doctor: Some of the symptoms can be more common ok

Doctor: is the pain sharp, does not radiate, and is not related to physical exertion.

Patient: it does not radiate and not from physical exertion

Doctor: Mitral Valve Prolapse. has been claimed to cause chest pain the chest pains are usually unrelated to exertion and not relieved by nitrated like they would for angina.

Patient: is it normal for it be regular? should i go to my dr? I used to get it every once in awhile but this week i have gotten everyday

Doctor: Mitral Valve Prolapse has been claimed to cause chest pain.

Patient: yes, correct. I am aware of that

Doctor: ok sorry we i reinforced what you might have already aware of we try to keep it simple and easy for users to understand and not to provide lot of jargon

Patient: Yes, thank you. My main question is: Is it normal to get the pain regularly? Should I see my own dr?

Doctor: mitral valve prolapse causes mitral regurgitation which is the back flow of blood across the valve due to incompetent valve... this causes the chest pain...but if frequency has increased from once a week to daily youneed to check up with a cardiologist asap

Patient: ok thank you...I appreciate your assistance. have a great day

Doctor: do you need any more answers

Patient: no...thank you.

Doctor: another point i would like to add - in a cardiac valve lesion, any change in symptoms frequency, you said the chest pain is coming every day, needs to be checked with an echo

Patient: Thank you I will make sure to mention it to my dr.
